What is a Medical Bescheid?
The Medical Bescheid (official decision) is issued by the German recognition authorities as the first step for a foreign-trained medical doctor to pursue a medical career in Germany.
It is formally called the Feststellungsbescheid – an official approval confirming that your education and qualifications meet the requirements for professional recognition or licensing in Germany.
This decision determines whether you are eligible to move forward with:
● the Approbation (full medical license), or
● the Berufserlaubnis (temporary work permit as a doctor)
Without this decision, no further steps toward working as a doctor in Germany can be taken.
